Latisse® is a FDA approved prescription eyelash treatment.  Since it was approved in 2008 approximately 2.5 million kits were sold.  The prescription is used to treat hypotrichosis, a technical term for thinning lashes.  The active ingredient in latisse® is bimaprost, a medicine used to treat glaucoma and interestingly enough one of the side effects was hair growth. 
Latisse® is a once-daily prescription treatment applied to the base of the upper eyelashes with a sterile applicator. Latisse® users can expect to have longer, fuller and darker eyelashes in eight weeks, with full results in 16 weeks. To maintain effect, you must continue treatment. If you stop using Latisse®, eyelashes will gradually return to where they were prior to treatment over a period of weeks to months.
